Oliver Fade

Oliver Fade is a DJ, music producer, engineer, Music Royalty Specialist and Grammy voting member. He was born in the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico and raised on the South Side of Chicago. Surrounded by the cultural influences of the city and directly impacted by its violence, Fade found a sanctuary in music where he was able to embrace Hip Hop and Chicago’s very own House music.

Oliver was introduced to music making at the impressionable age of 12, when his brother sealed his fate on Christmas day and purchased his first pair of turntables. An advocate for giving back and teaching through experience, Fade has participated as a speaker on multiple music panels in schools, community centers and even the Chicago Cultural Center. As a panelist, Fade advises youth and industry professionals about the music business, highlighting the importance of collecting digital music royalties, and speaking on his experience as both a DJ and producer. He has also taught DJing and audio engineering tips and tricks during studio sessions, and works with interns to help them navigate the ins and outs of the music industry with the understanding that information should be easy, and accessible.

A mentee of the famed Jay B. Ross - music royalties specialist and lawyer to stars such as James Brown, Muddy Waters, Ray Charles, and more - Oliver Fade began as an intern for Ross in 2007, and by 2014 was managing Jay B. Ross Royalty Retrieval. After Ross’ passing in 2018, Fade was tasked with consulting and client services for creatives numbering in the hundreds. Intent on making the music industry equitable, Fade became the President of Creative Rage, a company that provides record label services to artists without the strings of signing a record deal. Oliver Fade became a Grammy voting member in 2009, and continues to solidify his legacy within Hip Hop and House music in Chicago.
